‘NO ONE to be left behind’
Kathmandu University (KU), Dhulikhel – for the first time in the country – is all set to expand its educational domain by incorporating the academic program, research, and training on sanitation to fresh graduates, professionals and people having WASH background. For the same, KU has been selected for the transfer of IHE-Delft based sanitation program for the period of 2019 to 2023. KU has decided to offer M.S./M.E. in Sanitation Technology, Graduate Professional Diploma Program (GPDP) and Online Courses in Faecal Sludge Management through its Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, from September 2019 in the framework of the project “Transfer of the new MSc Program in Sanitation to South Asia and Sub-Sharan Africa – Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS)” by realizing the need of the time and staying true to its vision statement of becoming a world-class university. As according to UNICEF, “10.8 million people in Nepal do not have access to improved sanitation, and 3.5 million do not have access to basic water services.”
Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Kathmandu University, is the Principal Investigator, while
Er. Suman Dhun Shrestha, Research Associate at School of Engineering, KU, will organize this program in Nepal as the GSGS Program Coordinator.
